Penelope the weaver.

In Greek mythology Penelope was the long-suffering wife of wily adventurer Odysseus. As Odysseus was presumed lost after years at sea, a crowd of suitors came to her asking to be his replacement. She wasn't interested but they were persistent. Not being short of wiles herself she put them off by telling them she wouldn't marry any of them until her cloth was woven. But then she would unpick her weaving each night when they couldn't see her. Eventually Odysseus returned, got rid of the suitors and they were re-united.
