Top 100 baby names number 44

I thought it would be fun to look at the top 100 boys and girls names from last year.  I am doing a series on these with their meanings. Enjoy!

Today we have numbers 44 - Lola and Jude.

Lola is short for Dolores, meaning ‘sorrow’. It comes from the Spanish title of the Virgin Mary, María de los Dolores, meaning ‘Mary of Sorrows’.

 

 Jude (Hebrew)

Jude is a Biblical name and comes from Judas and Judah, from the root יְהוּדָה (Yehudah), probably derived from יָדָה (yadah) which means ‘praise’.
