Maddison (English)

Maddison as a given name for girls was almost unheard of until the 1984 movie Splash in which Daryl Hannah’s character names herself Madison after Madison Avenue. It then went through a dramatic rise in popularity which has now tailed off a little. As a surname or boys given name however it’s been around for centuries as a variant on Mathieson (i.e. Matthew’s son) or meaning Maddy’s son (i.e. Maud’s son).
