Iris (Greek)

Most people know that iris is a flower name (it’s actually my favourite flower), but it’s also the name of the Greek goddess of the rainbow, a messenger goddess. Pretty cool, huh?

Gabriel (Hebrew)

The name Gabriel is mostly associated with the archangel in Abrahamic religions. Archangel Gabriel is said to be God’s messenger and is definitely one of the more desirable roles in the primary school nativity play. The original meaning of the name is ‘God is my strength’.
